This is Russell H. Lenz's 1964 Map of Transportation.
It is a Blue & White image that is coded by country, based on 1960's data. It is coded by various shades of blue. It shows trade routes on an azimuthal equidistant projection (the only type of projection meaningful to compare distances accurately). It shows: Transcontinental Highways, Transcontinental Railroads, Major Shipping Routes, Intercontinental Airlines, and Country Boundaries. It provides a latitude scale and a longitude scale. There is also an inset showing a comparison of distance traveled in a day and and the amount of freight carried by jet, truck, train, and ship.

The art work & lettering  are done in the classic "Lenz" style, with pen and ink -- however, you do not get the topographic relief in Lenz's classic stippling style used in many of his other maps. It is one of a series of 10 maps created for World Eagle publishing in 1964, and the image was also later published in the Christian Science Monitor

What you are getting here is a 150-DPI image that you can download for $1. This charge is for personal use only and you must contact ODT, Inc. for licensing permission to reprint the image or use it in any commercial or classroom application.
