A Positive Approach to Resistance * digital free * (Empowerment) * article reprint
Resistance to change is a reality of organizational life. Instead of viewing it negatively, you can use it to create a more cooperative and dynamic workplace. This tipsheet takes a clear look at the phenomenon of resistance and some of the myths surrounding it. Your employees will learn how to accept resistance, overcome others' resistance, and implement a five-step strategy for keeping the problems created by resistance under control. This program was developed by ODT partner Hank B. Karp, author of Personal Power (also available as a free download).
The article was adapted as a handout for child welfare workers by Nan Beeler, MSW at the Institute for Human Services in Columbus, OH 43203. Contact ODT for reprint permission and licensing.
ODT began as consulting and training company in the field of Employee Empowerment and "Upward Influence", and soon developed a series of training modules on "How to Receive a Performance Appraisal", "How to Receive a Delegated Assignment", "How to Increase Your Personal Power", "Self-Directed Work Teams", as well as a series of instrumented feedback tools and workshops to help communication up (PRIME Match), downward (PRIME Search), and with peers (PRIME Peer). These tools are currently being digitized and will be available in 2019. See this link where they will be posted when they become available.
